Small
The better you become at creating ways to fail repeatedly in small ways, the more likely you are to achieve big success. In other words, think big, but act small.
..
These are two traits of successful innovators: They execute on lots of small experiments, and they hold a patient, long-term approach to product and business success. It is rare, though not impossible, that innovation and short-term profits go together.

Nobleza

Pre-textos
Disculpa, una vez más,
este pre-texto absurdo y temeroso
de nombrar... de reclamarte
al otro lado invisible del mensaje.
Discúlpame esta ilusión digital
de creerte análoga a mis quehaceres,
esta imprudencia textual que
súbitamente te irrumpió la tarde.
Ah, no puedo creer que aún te envíe
estas palomas con mis dedos;
solo deseo sentir cómo me reenvía su vuelo
una esperanza a esta bandeja de heridas.
Yo lo sé. Son pre-textos, nada más,
fingiendo augurar coloquios imposibles
con esta pequeña ventana
cultivada en mi mano enviando semillas,
con estos números que podrían transfigurar todo,
la distancia en letras,
onomatopeyas en infinidades.
¡Qué inocente esperar que los tuyos
son pre-textos para verme!
y las teclas que alborozas son
mis brazos vencidos de esperarte.
este pre-texto absurdo y temeroso
de nombrar... de reclamarte
al otro lado invisible del mensaje.

Medicine
We can react or respond, as my friend Zig used to say. When we react to a medicine, that's a bad thing. When we respond, it's working.

vierte
He ansiado, ¡Oh mi pájaro de singular necesidad!
Merecer la aflicción abismal,
Que lacera el sentimiento en las aciagas alturas
De tus soledades;
Padecer el naufragio de tu voluntad febril
En las inconmensurables lágrimas nocturnas,
Donde el devenir segundero de la libertad
Vierte penas graves
Sobre la tierra bondadosa
De un corazón profanado.

T-shaped
students, he declared, are not broadly educated, not sufficiently challenged to "search to know." instead, universities ask them to serve "the public, to work directly on solutions in a multidisciplinary way." the danger, he went on, is "that academic researchers will not only embrace particular solutions but will fight for them in the political arena." a university should keep to "its most fundamental purpose," which is "the disinterested pursuit of truth." Casper said that he worried that universities would be diverted from basic research by the lure of new development monies from "the marketplace", and that they would shift to "ever greater emphasis on direct usefulness," which might mean "even less funding of and attention to the arts and humanities."

Apps Subculture
the subculture of the compulsive programmer, whose ethics prescribe that one silly idea and a month of frantic coding should suffice to make him a life-long millionaire

horse piano
The idea is to get a horse, a Central Park workhorse.
A horse who lives in a city, over in the hell part of Hell's
Kitchen, in a big metal tent.
You have to get one who is dying.
Maybe you get his last day on the job, his owner, his
tourists.
You get his walk back home at the end of the day,
some flies, some drool. You get his deathbed, maybe.
An then, post mortem, still warm, you get the vet or else
the butcher
to take his three best legs. And then you get the taxidermist
to stuff them
heavy, with some alloy, steel, something.
Next day you go over to Christle's interiors sale and buy a
grand-piano,
shabby conditions but tony provenance, let's say it graced the
entry hall
of some or other Vanderbilt's Gold Coast classic six.
And you ask the welder you know to carefully replace the
piano legs
with the horse legs, and you put the horse/piano somewhere
like a lobby,
and you hire a guy to play it on the hour, so that everybody
will know
how much work it is to hold anything up in this world.
